Library News: March 22, 2024

Dear Reader:

On March 12, Nichole, of Binscarth’s Little Bloomers Daycare brought four Little Bloomers to Binscarth Library for Story Time with Librarian, Miss Rayla.  Sometimes there are up to eight Little Bloomers in attendance.  As St. Patrick’s Day was coming up, Rayla included a themed craft project for the children: rainbow and pot of gold colouring.  Binscarth Librarian, Rayla, has been hosting Story Time with a craft from 2-3 pm, every second Tuesday of the month for about a year now.  Hanna, Director of Little Bloomers, and Rayla have been working together to expand the world of Binscarth’s youngest through stories and art.

As the weather warms up, the turnout of daycare children increases in number and regularity.  Rayla is looking forward to the March 26th Story Time at Binscarth Library.  Chances are good, due to it being the week of Spring Break, that there will be a double batch of Little Bloomers for Rayla to regale with stories and crafts.   The theme will be a wild and wonderful mix of Easter and April Fools.  Laughter and chocolate eggs anyone?  Coming up!  All ages welcome.

In other news… For those of you that may be wondering what the significance of Pink Flamingos and Palm Trees in the library windows is, we are conjuring up spring.  So many folks are away for the winter or are coming and going to warmer climes, this time of year.  Those of us that have stayed home for the winter to hold down the fort, so to speak, needed to have a little fun with our outlook.  Sometimes, just looking at Pink Flamingos and Palm Trees is all it takes to make a person smile.  You may also have noticed that all of our books on display have a decidedly summer vibe.  Hang in there folks, Hot Dog Season will be here before you know it!

Daffodils

By   William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed and gazed but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
